Celebrities Donate Kisses for Breast Cancer Cause - Avon's Call to Action is Overwhelming
MONTREAL, Sept. 17 /CNW/ - Two hundred Quebec and Canadian celebrities from the arts, television, sports and politics have responded to Avon Canada's call to Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer.
Quebec stars such as Lara Fabian, Véronique Cloutier, Roy Dupuis, Sonia Benezra, Patrice L'Ecuyer and Bruny Surin have each donated their kisses in support of Avon's 10th annual Crusade Against Breast Cancer. Other celebrities
involved in the campaign include Canadian recording artist Sarah McLauchlan, actor Mike Myers and Olympian Catriona LeMay Doan, along with such US stars as television personality Drew Carey.
Mounted on cards along with the celebrities' photos and autographs, the lip prints were unveiled today at a news conference at Complexe Desjardins in downtown Montreal. The Wall of Kisses will remain on display until September 20th.
"We were overwhelmed by the response from the celebrities," said Tony Ariganello, President of Avon Canada. "They all embraced the cause and said that they were honoured to have been asked to join in this campaign."
September 17th, has been declared Avon's Global Day of Commitment, with Avon Sales Dealers in 45 countries joining forces to sell a special- edition Crusade Lipstick to raise funds for breast cancer research.
Since 1993, Avon Canada's 66,000 Sales Dealers have raised over $8 million for the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Initiative, Canada's primary funder of breast cancer research. This year, their goal is to raise $1 million.
Avon, the world's largest corporate supporter of breast cancer research, has committed to contributing $250 million
US by the end of 2002 to help eradicate breast cancer.
